In this hall," according to the proprietor Albert Helmes, "we can present our complete indoor and outdoor ranges." From the Piedra ceramic series via the light vessels from Crescent and Viducci's Garden right up to the new granite stone series and the extended indoor collection, all the product groups will be shown in a comprehensive form.

In its own café, customers and interested parties will be invited to have a rest from their tours of the fair, to meet their personal contacts and to draw inspiration. "The new presentation in the new place should become the IPM meeting point for our customers and friends from the green sector," adds Albert Helmes. Moreover, KH. Hergarten says: "We would be glad if Hall 7.1 were to become a location for stimuli, good discussions and new turnover impetus."

The company sees the move into Hall 7.1 as a sign of the closeness to IPM ESSEN as its "in-house fair" and wants to emphasise the significance of this fair in this way. However, this is, at the same time, also the start of the 2012 season with the large in-house fairs which take place several times per year at the firm's site in Cappeln.

Germany, the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, France, Belgium, South Africa, Colombia, Italy and the Ivory Coast will introduce their products and services directly. Ecuador, Kenya and Ethiopia will be represented by their German importers.

In addition to the diverse suppliers of cut flowers, four suppliers with potted plants and one supplier with German cut greenery will also be involved for the first time.

Cooperation Measures and Partnerships

BGI has renewed its partnership with the Italian wholesale trade association ANCEF from San Remo. As a result of this, ANCEF will, together with eight wholesalers from the Liguria region, present the current Italian programme for the international public.

The collaboration with the Colombian producers association Asocolflores will be continued as well. Here, ten producers will introduce the Colombian product range directly.

The Ivory Coast will be involved for the first time with Blumen-Absatzgenossenschaft-Azaguie ("Azaguie Flower Sales Cooperative"). This cooperative represents over 100 producers and is supported by the German association "Nachhaltig gegen Hunger - contre la faim e.V." ("Permanently Against Hunger") from Göttingen.

As special guests, BGI is expecting a delegation from Turkey. Members of the "Central Anatolian Exporter Unions" are planning a comprehensive programme in Germany with support by BGI.

The embassy or the consulate makes an effort to issue the visa within a few days. Although, depending on the local situation it can take 14 days or longer until the visa application is processed. Furthermore, a longer waiting period is possible in certain countries or during peak travelling times.

Participants have a choice. They can participate with their ideas in one competition, in two competitions and/or in three competitions. For each competition, a neutral jury determines the separate score and award. At the end, there are three individual winners. The best apprentices receive a trophy in each sub-competition.

In addition, a combination winner is determined for the participant with the most points in “bouquet + deco-plants” or “bouquet + bowl planting”. The combination winner has participated in any case also in the bouquet competition and receives the IPM Fair-Cup (challenge cup) of Messe Essen, worth € 500, -.

The first IPM ESSEN took place from 18 to 23 February 1983: 150 exhibitors displayed their products in one hall. Co-founders were the national organizations ‘Landesverband Gartenbau Rheinland e.V.’ and ‘Landesverband Gartenbau Westfalen-Lippe e.V.’, who since then, always have supported the IPM ESSEN. In the following three decades, the IPM ESSEN continued its worldwide incomparable success story in a rapid pace. The integration of the trade fair FLORBEDA in 1986 was the starting point for cooperation with the 'Fachverband Deutscher Floristen e.V.- Bundesverband’ (FDF). And in 1989, the horticultural technology completed its offer. In 1992, the exhibition reached a milestone by welcoming 30.000 visitors. The ‘Zentralverband Gartenbau e.V.’ (ZVG) became in 1996 the perfect sponsor and in 1997, the IPM reached another milestone by welcoming more than 1.000 exhibitors.

Due to continuously increasing visitor numbers, the duration of the IPM was extended to four days in the year 2000. In 2010, the advisory board decided to assign the IPM from Tuesday to Friday – a great success, as the amount of foreign visitors rose substantially. Now, the team is looking forward to the 30th IPM ESSEN with more than 1.500 exhibitors and about 60.000 visitors from all around the world.

Thus, INDEGA is also continuing to support Messe Essen's work with regard to the IPM events in Essen as well as in Dubai, China and Moscow. For example, INDEGA promotes the IPM activities all over the world and carries out the active canvassing of exhibitors and visitors.

National competitions are to be staged in the autumn of 2011 so that the nominees from various countries will be introduced to the trade public at IPM ESSEN 2012. During the period of the fair, the public at the fair and a knowledgeable jury will choose the victors who will win a professional product marketing campaign including an Internet film.

In 2010 a total of 40,000 visitors, about 40% of whom were from the trade, attended. The FLOWERS IPM 2011 is now jointly organized by Messe Essen GmbH and the MVCVVC.

With this new agreement the FLOWRS IPM team is now serving all parts of the horticultural sector, from plants via technology right up to floristry, sales promotion, gardening requisites, shop design/ interior equipment as well as services.

Until now 294 exhibitors from 18 countries are registered for FLOWERS IPM 2011.
